What is the Alliance?

Enduro & all-mountain riding — built for teens.

Right now, the main organized option for student mountain bikers in SoCal is the NICA-sponsored SoCal Cycling League. It's a great program — but it's primarily XC racing, and it's not terribly flexible. Many teens want to ride enduro and all-mountain, not just grind out laps.

The Method MTB Alliance fills that gap. Students ride twice a week during the school day with experienced coaches, develop real trail skills, and still have the option to race NICA on a composite team if they want.

Launching September 2026 with two regional groups in San Diego and Murrieta/Temecula. A beginner-level program is planned for January 2027.

Why join?

More than just a ride.

Two rides per week

Ride with your local group and experienced coaches during the school day — no after-school time crunch.

Level up your riding

Develop enduro and all-mountain skills with coaches riding at Advanced or Expert level.

Monthly alliance-wide rides

Once a month the entire alliance meets up for an epic group ride across all regions.

Team events & parties

It's not just riding — we host team socials, video nights, and seasonal events.

NICA-compatible

Still want to race XC? Alliance members can join a NICA composite team and race the SoCal League.

Bike Nights with mechanics

Hands-on evenings with mechanics — learn to wrench on your own bike, dial in your setup, and keep your rig dialed.

Trail days & volunteering

Give back through trail work and other volunteer projects, all counted through Method's service learning program.

Earn credit

Alliance members earn PE credit through our Athletic Performance course.

100% free

No fees, no dues. This program is fully funded for all Method students.

The full Method experience

Alliance riders get everything Method offers.

  • Laptop provided
  • Small class sizes (19:1)
  • Dual enrollment for college credit
  • Field trips & community events

NICA + Alliance

Want to race XC too? Go for it.

Alliance students are fully eligible to join a NICA composite team and race in the SoCal Cycling League. Many composite teams — made up of students from schools without a dedicated NICA program — already exist. You can ride enduro with the Alliance and race XC with NICA. Best of both worlds.

The fine print

Method students only

Students must be enrolled in Method's online program to participate.

Gear up

Approved helmets, shoes, knee pads, and eye protection are required at all times while riding.

Bring your own ride

Students must be able to get transportation to and from riding areas.

We've got insurance

Method provides insurance coverage for all Alliance riders.

First aid trained

All Alliance coaches are trained in first aid and ready for whatever the trail throws at us.

This program is designed for students in grades 7–12 who are already riding at an intermediate level or above. A beginner-level program is planned for January 2027 if demand exists.

Ready to ride?

Step one is enrolling at Method Schools. For this first season, we're building the roster around intermediate to advanced riders — the terrain and ride plans demand it. We expect to widen the door to more experience levels in January 2027 and beyond.

A quick note on bikes: E-bikes are cool but to keep group rides safe and cohesive, all Alliance bikes must be analog (non-motorized). Trail, all-mountain, or enduro full-suspension rigs are the right fit.
